A long week

Hellloo. Did I ever think this day would come? Nope. What day is it?!

Nothing. Just the end of the week.

That took forever.

As you can tell, that was the longest week that I have had in the mission. Why? Who knows! Not me.

We had lots of work this week. Lots of references, and no time to spare.

"So, great week, right?" you might ask. And that is what I would think! Sadly, a lot of work, with no success. These are the lowest numbers we have had. Bleh. Life. Boo.

I have always heard that there would be weeks like these in the mission, but it actually came!

Now I would like you to see something. Contrary to popular belief, good things do come from hard times like these. This has been the hardest week, and because of that, I have recieved and answer to my prayers.
I have been praying for humility. Pure humility.
Was I expecting a flash of smoke, and BOOM, I was humble? Maybe.
But that's not the point.

I have learned two things this week. (Well, lots of things, but two for now.)

1 - Be careful what you ask for, because you can't control how you will recieve it.

I recieved the answer of asking for humility. In the form of the hardest week I have had. And you know what? I have been humbled. And know that the Lord is the only one who makes the work function. It doesnt matter how much I want it to work. If we don't have him, It just doesnt work.

2 - Be prepared to act on your answer.

One thing that we teach about is verdadera intencion. (real intent). Real intent means, we WILL act on the answer that we recieve. If we ask a question, but aren't really willing to do anything with the answer, what is the point of answering the question?!

Mis queridos hermanos y hermanas, simply, I would ask that we have the faith to ASK, and then ACT. And if we do that, We can do whatever our Father in Heaven needs of us.

I love you all! And if you don't love me?! Well, you recieve my e-mails so that's got to mean something.

Con amor, Elder Scoubes

Mission transfers

DID SOMEONE SAY TRANSFERES?!

Well, yes. I have officially graduated from the trainees. Whether that makes me a real missionary or not, debatable. But I have finished! Bleh.

And where am I going next?! .........................no where. I am staying here.
Where is my comp going?! ............................no where. Together for another transfer.
But he is District Leader now so I get to go on exchanges more often čśĆ

Can I say that I have magically learned the spanish? No.
Can I say that every lesson is a baptism? No.
Can I even say all that in spanish? Probably not.
But that's not the point! I am no longer a trainee and happy about it.

All is well here in the dense dense cities of Tijuana, Mexico.
Every day is full of fish tacos, dead dogs, and traaaaffic.
Good to be alive.

I would like to relate a quick experience to you all.

We have had a reference named Federico. He is a mechanic. He had drug problems about a year back, and has been hoping to fix his relationship with God. And a member showed him the way to us.
Federico has a baptismal date on the 30 de Enero (January). And sadly, we thought that slowly he had been losing interest. But through many prayers, Heavenly Father showed us He had a different plan for Federico.
We showed up at his house to walk him to church. Normally this is an experience of waiiiiiting and calling and (almost) dragging him to church. But this time was different. He came walking down the hill of his house, dressed in a white shirt, a red tie, and he was all cleaned up. Even his face was different. He was happy. Genuinely happy.
Heavenly Father had changed his heart.
This man was now ready to go to church because he wanted to go. And is now excited for his baptism.

What can we learn??

1 - If we pray in faith, believing that we shall recieve, if it be good, we shall recieve.

2 - The Lord has power to do whatever He wishes. If he wants to litterally change a man, he can do it.

It sounds like a war zone

This is what it sounds like in Latin American countries as they ring in the new year.  It sounds like a war zone.  And there is no such thing as "noise ordinances"  The next day is very quite as everyone is either with family or "bien borrachos" very drunk.

Elder Scoubes and Elder Brown

Do I truly love God?

What an opportunity to be a missionary for a full, complete year. Im sure it will be amazing.

I am alive and well!! We have transferes coming up this next week so... holluh. No more training.
The language is good! This week, my companion has put me in charge of everything. He is basically not going to talk all week. I have to run the lessons, talk to the Obispo (bishop), and all that jazz. Exciting!

I had the opportunity to teach a special family this week. And i would like to share a little about it with you.

This family lives in a trailer home. With space inside for 4 people. There are 12 people living there. But, as we can learn from the Book of Mormon, this helped these people to be humble. We extended the invitation to go to church, and they greatfully accepted. (it also helped that our church is now at 3 and not 8am). We were talking with one of them, Esteban. He said that he wants to know everything there is to learn about God. He just had no idea where to go.

Brothers and sisters, that right there is a perfect example of the scriptures. They say that people simply dont have the truth because they know not where to find it.

This man, Esteban, has the most desire to follow Christ I have ever seen. It made me think. Do I truly love God and Jesus Christ?

I would ask you to ask yourself this question.

If you answered yes, be prepared to do something about it.

Jesus Christ said to his apostle Peter, "Peter, do you love me?"
To which Peter replied, "Lord, thou knowest that I love thee."
Jesus then replied, "Then feed my sheep."

If you are willing to say that you love God and Jesus Christ, do something about it.
There are people everywhere around us. JUST EXTEND THE INVITATION.

These people are in the pool of life, and have no idea how to swim. Be a lifeguard!! Help!!

We have something they need.

So, my dear friends, if you are willing to say you truly love God and Jesus Christ, you better be willing to love His work. Bring souls back to Him.

I love you all!!!! I hope that you will have such a great year!
