NOT because i dont like writing you all, i just have to balance my mind. Something difficult.
I would like to relate to you all a challenge that we are doing as a mission.
Presidente Garcia was thinking about what would hold us back from having the spirit.
And he came across a story.
There were two missionaries who had invited a member to join them to a lesson.
The two missionaries gave their speech, bore their testimonies, and then looked to the member as a signal that he was to give his testimony. The member waited for a moment, and then said: "I know that Joseph Smith was and is a prophet of God."
The room filled with an energy, and the investigator started crying.
The missionaries were then contemplating afterward why they did not have such an impact on the lesson, and why they couldnt bring such a spirit. They decided that on Sunday, they would ask the member what it was that he was doing.
Sunday came, and they asked. He stood there for a moment, looking at both of the missionaries. Then after a period of awkward waiting, the man began to ask questions.
"Do you wake up at 6:30 every morning?"
"When cute girls walk by, what do you think about?"
"Are you being obedient to every mission rule?"
The list went on and on. Finally, the man said: "Those are the things that are not letting you have the spirit."
The man then gave them a challenge. He told them to go home, and start a fast. In that fast, they would commit to God to live up to the best standards they could. They would then write a list of allllll the thinks that would not permit them to have the spirit. The challenge was that they would not do any of those things for the next 40 days. Every night, they would review the list, pray for help, and try harder the next day.
Long story short, after 40 days of work. They started to see small miracles happen. They could understand what the investigator was thinbking before it was spoken, they could feel the power of the priesthood, etc.
They ended the next transfer baptizing 16 people, in a mission that is not known to baptize so many.
Friends and family. I would hope that you too will take the challenge, and see the blessings that come from it.
