Trevor's comp is Elder Winsor. He is from SLC area. He writes different details then Trevor so I have grabbed some of his letter this week so we can all see what the companionship is up to. (note from mom)
THIS WAS AN AWESOME WEEK.
super crazy, but awesome.
The big highlight, WE GOT ANOTHER BAPTISM.
(this part is from Elder Winsor)
His name is Hugo, another future missionary. He is from Michoacan, and came up here until he can move over to Georgia, in the states with his dad. He had red all of the pamphlets that we left him, and basically knew everything when we got to teach him. He got baptized on Saturday, and things were a little crazy. We arrived in good time, but turns out that the stake center didn´t have any baptismal clothing. We spent upwards of two hours calling the missionaries in Mexicali trying to find some clothing. Finally, some Zone Leaders helped us out, and things went well.
We had a great time in Mexicali, spending time with Elder Kelson and Elder Rodrigues. Elder Kelson is our District Leader, and he is from our generation. Elder Rodrigues is from Sao Paulo, Brazil, and is super cool. We had fun on divisions, and chilling in the house at night. We had interviews with the president, and all went well. Turns out too that an area seventy is going to come, so we are going to do a musical number. It will be pretty cool!
Then, we received a reference from some members in Mexicali. We contacted them Saturday, later in the day, and they are awesome. We visited them yesterday with the Branch President, and the lesson was awesome. They had gone to the temple open house, and were interested in learning more. The dad lost his parents a while ago, and is still super sad. They want to get closer to God, and sometimes have some arguments between the two. They don't have any kids, and they are married. They are the most golden investigators every. It is so cool! In the lesson, we talked about eternal families, and the temple, and put a baptism date. Everything flowed smoothly. It was a great experience.
The Sister missionaries have to wear pants now, because of the mosquito threat
The picture . I don´t know what kind of spider it was. We were riding along a street at night, and somehow my companion saw it. It was massive! There were babies all over its back. Thinking of Dad, I was going to kill it, but Elder Scoubes had mercy on it.
I would just like to share with you all something that i learned.
I heard of a story where a rebellious young man was sent to EFY. After a day, he called his mom and begged to be taken out. Why? Because he didn't feel comfortable there.
Now think. We often think that in the judgement day, we will be begging to God to let us stay. But wont it be the same as the young man an EFY?
Jesus Christ will be the one begging us to repent and stay. We will want to leave His presence, because we do not feel comfortable there.
The Atonement is something that not only helps us be clean of sins, it helps us to CHANGE, so that when that day comes, we will want to stay there with Them.
